A year in the United States

Italy to go to the United States. I went to a town called Lowville, in New
York State. I was so excited: I thought that
everything was going to be amazing, that I was going to have a lot of fun and
first of all that I was going to be FREE… without my parents, away from Porto
Torres! I have to admit that it wasn’t exactly
like I thought. Yes, I had fun, I made
a lot of friends, I learned a new language, but it did cost me. Being an exchange student is not that
easy: you go to a place where people think in a different way, speak a
different language and the most
important thing is that for every decision you’ve got to make, you don’t have
Mum or Dad to tell you what to do, but you have to do it by yourself. Having one year experience in another
country is amazing: you totally change your personality, you get more mature,
you learn (beside the language) how to deal with problems, and you make
friends that you’ll have for the rest of your life. Even if my year in the U.S. has been
hard, it was the most important thing I have ever done in my life and if I
could I would do it again. |

El Camino de Santiago por Danilo Correddu
El Camino de Santiago es una meta de peregrinos que llegan de todo el mundo. Santiago es el nombre del apóstol que en el siglo I dC enseñó el
Evangelio en Galicia. Después de su
regreso en tierra de Palestina, fue decapitado y, según una leyenda, su
cuerpo fue llevado por los ángeles en un buque de piedra a
Galicia, donde fue enterrado. Tras el descubrimiento del sepulcro, en el siglo IX, el rey
Alfonso visitó el lugar y ordenó la
edificación de un templo y un monasterio. Alrededor de ellos nació la
ciudad de Santiago de Compostela. Millones de cristianos europeos peregrinaron a la vuelta de Santiago. Fue
necesario construir o restaurar iglesias y hostales para
acoger todos esos peregrinos en las etapas principales del camino, cada 30
quilómetros. Hoy el camino principal consiste en cerca
de 800 km de estupendos paisajes
y está frecuentado principalmente por cristianos que quieren
desculparse de los pecados o quieren recibir una gracia. Pero también está
percurrido por personas en búsqueda de sí mismo y de su espiritualidad, o
simplemente por personas a quién les
gusta la aventura y la vida de peregrino, que permite estar en
contacto con la gente y participar en las tradiciones del lugar donde uno se encuentra. |
